FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has expanded from four to six the principles of freedom associated with Net Neutrality. Now however these principles are now going to be codified into regulatory rules. So the question has to be asked can the concept of Open be governed. Join us as we look at how these principles will be incorporated into policy. What companies, services and devices will be subject to these rules. And discuss if the jurisdiction of the FCC has to be modified to enable these princi…

There is much to hear these days that the latest developments in the LTE technology will leave behind WiMAX. In a broader perspective, the situation is different. Although the WiMAX vendor community has been pushing the notion that 2009 is the year of WiMAX, the recession coupled with an aggressive push towards mobile broadband’s LTE (long term evolution) could put the technology’s wider uptake in jeopardy. Nortel, for instance, has left the WiMAX market and Alcatel-Lucent has diverted R&D s…

The last two months I have been at trade shows that are around the VON community.
I have yet to hear from anyone from Virgo, but they have been walking the floor talking about VON.
The interesting thing is, I am not sure that was the community that VON represented.
So we will see what their version of VON looks like.
VON was many things to many people.
My goal now is to support the VON Coalition as it navigates the regulatory environment.

Please do not post this is or commentary about this to outside message boards.
Some Facts
At the end of March, I was no longer a pulvermedia employee.
Currently no one has asked me to participate in any conference associated with VON.
I have no access to the assets associated with pulvermedia or pulver.com and have never been in receipt of profits that allows me to be benevolent to those creditors and debtors that would like compensation. The only people who can do that are at http://www.tic…

As VON progresses, I have to admit. I am amazed how hard it is for the monks to define the elephant.
The market has definitely matured.
Some Companies have retrofitted their solutions into VoIP, but most are on their second / third generation of IP solutions.
Alternatively some startup strategies are also here, but its becoming harder to find the VoIP in the Software AaA Service [SAAS] and Communication As A Service [CAAS] models.
But the real story is where is the bypass today....

With
eComm this week and
VON the week after, it feels like conference overload. So you might have decided to give eComm a miss and focus on VON.
You should think again because the two conferences simply don't cover the same ground.
VON is – and will be for the foreseeable future -- the Mecca of voice and video on the Net. But its focus is products, systems and services. eComm is about pure technology – more importantly, techn…

Sitting here waiting for the plane,
I want to thank you all for coming to our first New Market Peering summit. As a summit it will be small but intense. My intention is to be in every session and moderate with a light touch. I expect the group to be interactive and I expect you to be engaged. I will be posting the slides in a discussion group called New Market Peering on http: //www.pulvermediacommunity.net.
I want you to know I am looking forward to this event.

One of the things I talked about at VON was story telling within a virtual world/mmog. I thing Rand Miller at Cyan is making a noble effort in his game Myst Online: URU Live. If you get a chance download the free demo and check out this amazing world. http://www.mystonline.com/demo.html
